I turned back towards Lijiang Ancient Town as I was quite far from the entrance now. There weren’t a lot of people here in this part of the Black Dragon Pool park. Most of the interesting stuff was back at the entrance but this part isn’t really that bad either where you can be alone with your thoughts. I wasn’t exactly retracing my steps here since I was walking on the opposite side of the water in the previous route. This time, I will be following the foot of Elephant Hill. I noticed this place previously, but I didn’t really pay attention since I knew I will be coming back this way. There was a temple looking place and I beckons me to visit.
The Five Phoenix Pavillion 五凤楼 is a small temple complex here inside the Black Dragon Pool park. It is built on the foot of Elephant Hill so it has a rising orientation with the rear of the pavilion the highest part of the complex. It wasn’t exactly going to be an exhausting climb and who knows it might be too for some great views. The Five Phoenix Pavillion doesn’t seem to be one of those “fake” temples which were recently built and it shows.
