I guess I finally got tired seeing the Lijiang Ancient Town, yes it is pretty but there is only so much of it you can take. Fortunately, Lijiang serves as a good base to explore the surrounding area and transport to those places is plentiful. I decided to go to the old town of Baisha, which is famous for its murals. First I needed to go outside the ancient town area. There is a main road outside the town where I can take a bus going to the old town. It seems to be quite a distance so I needed to be prepared.
Visitors can take bus 6 from the main road going right to go to Baisha. I takes about less than an hour to get there and one could immediately see the modern city of Lijiang fade away as it gives way to a more rural setting. Fortunately, the road here is excellent and it is a breeze to travel. Along the way you can see the surrounding countryside, however, dark clouds are looming over the horizon and threaten to dampen my excursion, hopefully it won’t be that bad.
