My Bedroom at Old Town Courtyard Youth Hostel 古城庭院青年旅舍
In my wanderings of Lijiang Ancient Town, though I was constantly dazzled by the beauty of the town, I did not forget that I still have something to do. My original accomodations will be no longer be available but I was informed of this ahead of time, which gave me time to prepare other accomodations. In my wanderings of the town I managed to stumble into a youth hostel, the name was Old Town Courtyard Youth Hostel 古城庭院青年旅舍. It is one in one of those small alleys which you would get lost in. I think this was a nice location as it was still near the action but on the quiet side.

During my visit, they had a large Hostelling International logo displayed however, when I visited the Hostelling International website, they were no longer listed there. I am not sure what happened there, perhaps they decided not to be members of that organization anymore. Anyway, I found it and they have a place for me to stay. I managed to land a two-bed room but there wasn’t any built in toilet, it was downstairs but that is not a problem for me. There is actually a public toilet nearby which is regularly maintained, so that was another option. The hostel features an old style courtyard which fits right in the Lijiang Ancient Town theme. From the second floor you get a view of the entire courtyard.
The family there seems to own the place and they were very helpful and friendly. As with any other hostel they provided free wifi. I didn’t have a wireless device so I just borrowed their computers once in a while. I enjoyed my stay here, if only I didn’t keep losing my way.
