I finally used up my time here at Shika Snow Mountain. Actually, there was no time limit, it was just that I didn’t really want to spend too much time here. The summit was a huge disappointment for me, while the grassy plain midway was a nice extra for me. Other than that I didn’t have much to see here. I didn’t want to risk lingering too long at high altitude so I decided to head back down the mountain.
From what I have read, there are other locations I could have visited, but this was long after I have come back from Yunnan. There were a number of nice lakes here with beautiful colors but I didn’t know about this, nor did my ever reliable guide tell me about this. The lake is one of several scenic areas here in Shangrila. It was a pity that I didn’t get to visit it. The guides never seemed to have mentioned this either. From my research, there seems to be a fair amount to hiking involved, maybe best reserved for some other time.
