I wasn’t alone at the grassy plain at Shika Snow Mountain. There were a few tourists also exploring the area with me. It seems that it wasn’t exactly very clear that the area is open for visitors. I guess they just did what I did, I saw people walking in the area and just followed them. In this case, they were a group three ladies from Hong Kong. I was actually quite surprised with their Chinese as my experience with their Mandarin wasn’t exactly very good.
Anyway, the ladies asked me if I had already come from the top, which I already have. Turns out they were similarly concerned about the altitude on top of the mountain. And they were thinking of whether or not it was a good idea to purchase oxygen canisters here. They only arrived at Shangrila a few days ago, so they were concerned that they were climbing too fast. If they made it this far already without incident, then I think they should be fine. To appease their mind, they decided to hang out at the grassy plain, to “acclimatize”. Yes, it would be too short a time to do that now, but I think they should be fine. In the meantime, they went off for some horseback riding. I guess, that it kind of interesting here.
