The title of this post might sound a little ridiculous, after all, how could there be a grassy plain on top of a mountain, but that was exactly what it was. I wasn’t sure how high we were as I didn’t have an altimeter, but were were more or less at 4000m high. A grassy plain was probably one of the things I would least expect here in the mountain. Then again, upon research, I would later find out that these kinds of places are not really very strange in this area. This is after all already part of the Tibetan Plateau.
I managed to visit the grassy plain of Shika Snow Mountain earlier when we were on a break between cable car rides. The grassy plain intruigued me but that was to be explored on the return trip. As you might expect from the plain, it was quite flat and thoroughly green. Much of the area was planted with crops with what appeared to be lettuce. There is a path to go inside the grassy plain and it does seem to be open for exploration. There is no entrance fee here as you already paid for it at the entrance below. Just watch out for the lettuce!
