I felt strange when I got on the cable car down Shika Snow Mountain. I was glad that there weren’t a lot of visitors at that time and I had the entire cabin all to myself. I also felt relief that I was going down the mountain, which cause me no small amounts of stress since I was worrying a lot about altitude sickness. The sigh expressing may be more than the disappointment of not seeing anything at all, it might as well be physical as I was breathing a little easier on the way done. The quiet stillness that accompanied my descent back into Shangrila interrupted by the occasional stopping of the cable car.
I managed to get to see more of the mountain from this side. I would theorize that the Shika Snow Mountain was blocking the clouds on the other side which gave me that disappointing summit views. On the other hand, the same mountain blocked the clouds to give me a clearer view of the rest of the mountain. I still couldn’t see into the distance but at least I can see most of the mountain now. I spent more than two hundred yuan to visit the mountain, I realize what the discount is for now, there’s no snow on this snow mountain. At least for that month. This might be better visited during October or November. December might be a little too cold.
