If I would have to sum up my visit to Shika Snow Mountain in one word, it would have to be “disappointed”. I was actually looking forward to see the views from the top of the mountain based on the photographs which the guide showed me. Of course, those photos were taken under optimal weather conditions. What they didn’t tell me was that, this time of the years wasn’t actually optimal. Cloud cover at the summit was so thick that I could hardly see anything here. I could hardly see ten meters ahead of me what more any faraway mountains.
My guide probably knew this but he didn’t discourage me from visiting. I didn’t even think of the weather conditions at the top of the mountain either, lesson learned. Thinking of this, my frustration with my driver only grew. I could barely understand him because of his thick Tibetan accent and he seemed to be more inclined to earn money rather than bringing people around. My guide was already far below the mountain by this time, probably because he already knew that there was nothing to see from the top. Just as slowly as I go to the summit, I also slowly made my way to the cable car station. Although the fog was very thick here, it is practically impossible for you to lose your way.
