One path among the wooden walkways here in Shika Snow Mountain seems to rise above the rest, leaving me no doubt as to where it leads to. My disappointment with Shika Snow Mountain is only compounded by the thick fog which blocks all our views of the surrounding area. You can supposedly see a few holy mountains from this point, such as Meili Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain but we can’t even see a shadow of it. I guess this is another one of those places which I would have to revisit.
The summit is not that fantastic as there was another chorten and a lone tree trunk which marks the highest point of the mountain. The tree trunk is carved with the altitude of the mountain 4500m. This was some sort of achievement for me as this was the highest place I have even been to on foot. It would have been perfect to see the rest of the world on my feet but clouds have conspired against me. I tried to wait out the clouds but it didn’t seem to clear. It didn’t seem like a good idea to hang around in the thinner air as well, lest I start feelings its effects. Even my driver has already ran back down to our vehicle.
