It was with a little apprehension that my driver and I head back to the cable car station. There were even less people here than the cable car station at the foot of the mountain. Most of the tourists where enjoying themselves at the beautiful grassland here at the midway point up Shika Snow Mountain. Now that I think of it, even at this altitude, which I estimate to be around 4000m, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of snow. From what I have seen, when mountains are named “snow mountains” or 雪山 in China, it usually implies that there is snow all year round.
When I think of it, maybe it was because it was still not high enough to have snow all year round here. The temperature here isn’t even cold enough to support all year round snow. Probably the top of the mountain would have snow. It has been a while since I have seen snow. The last one was when I was at Mt. Emei where there was snow fall the previous night. Anyway, I hope to be lucky here. The cable car kept climbing higher and higher, while the grassy plains is drifting further and further behind. This is a high mountain, I hope this is worth it.
