After a whole afternoon of taking it easy and trying to get a feel of what Shangrila is supposed to be. I decided not to complete the circumnavigation of the lake since I was already very satisfied with the photos I have taken. I have to remember not to push myself that much since I just arrived in Shangrila. Yes, that again. Even when I was just walking I would become aware of my breathing and start to wonder if I was breathing too fast, was this an effect of the altitude? Did I ascend too fast? I will never know but as least I did not experience the other effects like nausea and vomitting.
I walked back to the main road and was trying to figure out how to get back to town. I could walk back as it was only a few kilometers away but I noticed that there were other people also waiting along the road. There doesn’t seem to be any bus stop here and maybe people just flag the bus to stop. Eventually, a bus did pass by and we flagged it down. It was going back to down and it was convenient enough. I took another bus back to Dukezong Ancient Town and rested for a while. When I woke up, it was dinner time and this ancient town has a few interesting places to eat at.
I ended up at a restaurant along the smaller streets here. It was some sort of cured meat and it was very, very tasty. It was a bit sweet and the meat was quite tender. If I was not mistaken, it was called pipa meat. It had some vegetable dish which I could not identify, it was okay though the greens were a little tougher to chew on. Do they think we were yaks?
