It seemed to be taking me more time to go around the lake here are Songzanlin Temple. Not that the lake was very large, and it wasn’t, but rather that I was pacing myself. Yes, I was that concerned about altitude sickness that I was taking it very, very slowly to go around the lake. I normally walk very fast when the ground is level. I would start to pant very quickly when it comes to climbing stairs. To be safe, I was walking every so slowly so as to not push myself. Anyway, the scenery in the area demands that one take the time to see the sights.
When our bus was approaching the temple, I caught a nice view of the temple. It is apparenly around the lake area and I was determined to get some shots of that temple. It is quite amusing to know that the scenery was so nice that to be able to get a Shangrila experience would mean you need to take your time. It is not just a physical slowing down but also a spiritual one slowing down. In this place you get a chance to commune with nature and be in harmony with it. I’m not an expert in meditation but this place seems to be a great place to do it. No wonder they set up a monastery here.
