Even before my arrival at Songzanlin Temple, I saw, from the bus, a lake right in front of the temple. I immediately thought that this was a great place to set up a temple. The lake in front of the temple reminds me a lot of the ponds right in front of the Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Maybe I would be able to get some good reflection shots from this lake. When I got to the entrance, I was torn between going in the temple and just heading out for the lake. Well I did pay for the temple entrance fee so I might as well make use of it. Now that I was done with the temple, it was time for some more exploration outside the temple.
I wasn’t sure if the lake here is man made but I seemed too conincidental that the temple was built right near a lake. The lake here is also part of the temple grounds as certain rituals are conducted here. The lake here is not extremely big and it would probably take around an hour’s leisurely walk to go around it. I already saw some people trying to circumnavigate the lake but I was thinking of not overexerting myself. Not that I think a leisurely walk is considered overexertion, but I wanted to be careful since I was travelling alone and I just got there from the lowlands that morning.
