I seem to be in a developing area of the city of Kunming when I was at the Kunming Western Bus Station. The place seemed more chaotic than I expected. I was under the impression that Kunming would be similar to Chengdu in terms of charm, after all, it is called the Eternal Spring city. I guess all the constuction in the area only emphasized the fact that this place is still developer. Maybe next time I can take the metro to this bus station. Then again, maybe not. The bus station wasn’t exactly the best I have seen in a while. Though the exterior of the station would imply that it was a new building. Inside revealed a totally different face. All the hallmarks of a Chinese bus station where there, ticket counter, long queue, x-ray machine and security personell.
However, it seems that the bus station was quite dark. I don’t know if there was a power failure that time or they were just conserving electricity but they didn’t have enough lights on. It feel downright gloomy inside so much that I didn’t really want to stay inside as it felt like a concentration camp. Maybe they just didn’t have enough windows, but it didn’t really feel very accomodating in there. I had a good look at the destinations one can reach from this bus station they indeed they were quite plentiful. However, more importantly, the destination I needed to get to in particular northern Yunnan was here.
