My flight from Singapore to Guangzhou arrived at around four in the morning. I would be catching another flight in the morning but I still have a few more hours before it departs. I have already checked in using the automated check in counter, yes it works. At this time of the night, the airport is very quiet with the only noise coming from the passengers who arrived early. It had been my habit to spend some time at the airport to catch some shut eye. I was able to do this a couple of years ago at this same airport. I was trying to find a nice place to lie down but it seems other people also have the same idea. I managed to snag a spot with a full row of chairs all to myself. I put my large backpack on my feet and my other bag served as my pillow, hopefully nothing would get stolen.

I only slept an hour or two when the airport was already waking up. The light was on now and it was difficult to sleep. Anyway, it won’t be long before my next flight is due. I hurried down to the restaurant area to get some breakfast. Unfortunately for me, most of the breakfasts here were not very cheap. Not a good way to start my trip. I finally ended up at a fancy dimsum place. This is Guangzhou after all, the land of dimsum. I ordered a glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf. It was surprisingly good! It seems that it has been a while since I had very good dimsum, it looks like I made the right choice. The restaurant looks expensive as Chinese restaurants tend to be but their prices weren’t astronomical. Curiously, they also had wine from different regions of the world. It was quite unlike any Chinese restaurant I have seen. I lingered on at the restaurant since I still have a lot of time before the flight, they didn’t seem to mind either since they needed the customers to fill the space.
