It was with a heavy heart that I marhced on to the jetty at Perhentian Kecil. We will be departing the island and head back to the mainland that day as a conclusion of a wonderful stay at Perhentian Kecil. Work loomed over the horizon as I feared my adventure was coming to an end. But before that we needed to get off the island. The jetty here are Perhentian Kecil serves as the main link back to the mainland. There are several jettys elsewhere but this is the most heavily used one.
I was a bit surprised and concerned when I saw the number of passengers who were also waiting for their boat. It looks like there would be more than one boat coming, or how else do they plan on bringing all of us back to the mainland. The jetty was filled with both residents and visitors. Each time we would see a boat approach the jetty were would all look at who appears to be the man in charge here. He would motion us to wait until our boat comes. He didn’t seem to be very reliable as we kept asking him each time another boat comes. As it turns out, he was watching out for us as he called us when our boat really came.
