I was desperately trying to get used to the snorkel that I was provided with, since it would be my first time using that thing. I comtemplated on just forgoing the snorkel and just go with the diving mask, naturally lifting my head up for breathing. I gave the snorkel a try an finally got the hang of it. The key is not to panic, soon I was breathing from the snorkel like it was second nature to me. Now before I forget, I was here to admire the coral and the fishes which I hope I will be lucky to see. My friend told me that they saw a large fish off to one side of our snorkeling area but I wasn’t lucky enough to see it in person. Others in our group were also squealing with delight when they saw rays among the coral, I couldn’t see since it was quite deep.
The water here at this area was crystal clear such that even though the water was a couple of meters deep, visibility was still very good. The bright sun helped illuminate the sea floor which was covered with corals. Our boatman then signaled to us to gather around him. He had some bread with him and they were obviously for feeding the fish. Once in the water, the fish would gather around you like a swarm of insects. They we so many it was very difficult to keep track of them. They were moving from diver to diver feeding on our bread. It was indeed a delightful experience to have fish feeding off your hand. I couldn’t identify the fish I saw though, maybe you can.
