The lackluster breakfast at Senja Bay Resort didn’t dampen my spirits here at Perhentian Kecil. The weather promises to be great with nary a cloud in sight. This should be great for island hopping. While we were still waiting for our island hopping tour, we started walking along the beach. It was a very nice beach with the sand as fine as you can imagine. The residents take good care of the sand here as this is their main source of living. Every morning, the residents would rake the sand for any rubbish and seaweed they can find. Even if they can’t find these, they rake them anyway to make sure the look attractive. After all, this is where their money comes from. This is a very good attitude when it comes to tourism and I think it should be emulated.
The beach doesn’t have a lot of swimmers yet as it was still early in the morning. Most people here were just walking up and down the beach to see the sights. Others would take to the beach chairs to read a book, sleep or just plain people watching. It was funny because people tend to get the chairs with shade from the coconut trees. There weren’t a lot of them in Senja Bay but I think in another few more hours, it wouldn’t matter anymore since the sun will be very high. The sea has a brilliant blue green color, one that I have come to associate with nice beaches. Not only was the water crystal clear but the beach itself was great.
