We didn’t really go much exploring after we checked into the Senja Bay Resort, probably because we were so exhausted from almost a day of travelling. We probably only got the last burst of strength from seeing the beautiful beach here at Perhentian Kecil. We were lucky to land a room at the Senja Bay since we didn’t really book any prior to coming here. It has become a habit of mine not to book accomodations beforehand. My thinking is that it would keep my schedule flexible but in a situation like this where we won’t be going anywhere, it won’t make much sense. With the island so small as it is, there is really a chance that we might end up sleeping on the beach itself.
We spent the rest of the afternoon resting at the cottage. It wasn’t airconditioned but it was still cool enough. The forest and the sea breeze all make it so much nicer, I was tempted to leave the windows open but decided against it lest we be invaded by a swarm of insects at night. That was one of my experiences in the village of Batad in the Philippines where I was invaded by insects just as I was about to turn in for the night. Anyway, the sun sets later here so we took until almost seven in the evening before venturing out hoping to be able to take nice sunset photos. However the lure of my bed was almost too strong to resist, that is until my stomach told me otherwise.
