My bus from Singapore to Kuala Terengganu took around 10 hours to get there. My friend was supposed to wait for me at the bus station. I saw a photo of the bus station and only remember how it looks like. Our plan was to depart for our next destination as soon as we meet in Kuala Terengganu, unfortunately, my bus arrived after the first bus leaves. The bus dropped me off at the jetty where visitors to the resort island of Pulau Redang go to. However, this wasn’t our destination. I had to walk to back to the town center where I managed to find the bus station by accident. I would have been easy to ask questions here also since this seems to be a nice, small and friendly place. By the time I got to the bus terminal, the bus has already long gone and it would be a while before the next one comes.
So with a lot of time to spare, we decided to have some breakfast at the bus station. Some stalls were already opening here and we would like to try some of their local fare if there was any. There was an elderly couple who was operating a stall and we decided to eat there. There seemed to be quite a few patrons which was a good sign. We ordered some stuff which was nice, but the couple could not speak English and my very poor grasp of the Malay language was no use either. In the end, we didn’t know what we just ate although the couple tried their best to entertain us and they were obviously very friendly even though they could not communicate with us. I guess this is really a small town where people are just really so much nicer.
