Much money has gone into remaking Sentosa into the playground of the rich. The much publicized integrated resort is truly remarkable. The designs of the Resorts World Sentosa are very representative of Michael Graves’ work. It was interesting as I am not really able to spot architects designs but Michael Graves’ designs truly stand out for me as I have seen examples of his work elsewhere. The new Sentosa is a far cry from the lakadaisical design of the old Sentosa, you might actually say that the effort to remake Sentosa into what it is right now was worth it.
The walk to the Merlion statue is not a beautifully covered plaza complete with fountains. I remember scrambling up to the statue with nothing much to see. How times have changed! Now tourists from all over the world come here to see a very well built island resort. Hotels have been put up here which would cost a pretty penny to stay at. Restaurants are also all over the place. Most popularly, a Universal Studios has been built here as well. I haven’t been to any Universal Studios and I never really felt the urge to go there. Perhaps I’m just waiting for a chance to visit.
