I didn’t have anything scheduled for the day, I have already visited the CCTV Headquarters which I missed the previous trip. Now I have time to spend just wandering around Beijing. I didn’t know much about Beijing itself apart from the historical sites so I just went with an old reliable – Wangfujing. Wangfujing is Beijing most famous shopping street and it has large shopping centers and modern shopping malls here. Beijing the preeminent shopping street in the country – this attracts people from all over the place. I have been to Wangfujing several times but this is the first time I will be visiting it in this trip. I don’t have any agenda for today so I was just thinking of grabbing some lunch there.
Wangfujing has side streets which are lined with eating places where you can hopefully sample some authentic Beijing fare. Apart from Peking Duck only one other dish comes to mind when I think of Beijing and it is Zhajiang Noodles. Zhajiang Noodles are some kind of comfort food here and you can get it anywhere. I just don’t know where to get the really good ones and I doubt I will be able to get a good one here in Wangfujing. Anyway, I just saw some random shop selling Zhajiang Noodles and just walked in. It was already lunch time, so I didn’t really care if the place was good or not. There were people eating here which is already a good enough sign for me. The Zhajiang Noodles wasn’t spectacular and in fact I thought it was lacking in sauce/taste. Maybe it was just me wanting more flavour in my food.
