Night Time at Tiananmen Square

After that let down of a meal at Quanjude Restaruant, I needed to walk off all that roast duck I just had. It just so happened that Tiananmen Square was a nice place to be wandering around, at least its vicinity. At night, the entire square is off limits to visitors and there are some guards who would be ready to chase anyone away. The monuments around Tiananmen Square such as the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong and the Monument to the People’s Heroes are all lit up at night. It was too bad that you cannot see these structures up close.

Along the way to the subway station at Tiananmen East, I noticed that there was another Quanjude Restaurant here, I was annoyed at not being able to know that there was another one so near where I was. This one was a proper restaurant and not the fast food type of restaurant which I had in Qianmen. I could noly watch in envy as patrons would wolf down their delicious roasted duck. I don’t get it why they bothered to set up a fast food style, were they hoping that their brand name would carry the fast food restaurant no matter what?
