It was almost the end of my trip in China and that also means that it was time for me to buy some souvenirs. I normally save the souvenir shopping at the last part of the trip since it would not be good for my back if I would to lug all those souvenirs with me for the rest of the trip. I was good that I would normally end my trip at a major city in China, like Beijing or Shanghai, this makes it very easy for me to buy whatever I want to bring back home. Natrually, there would be some cases where I would find stuff which I definitely won’t be able to easily find in other Chinese cities, when this is the case, I would just try to limit the size and the quantity of the item.
Qianmen Pedestrian Street, while it is no Wangfujing in terms of tourist draw, also has an area where you can buy these things. I think these are more for the foreign tourist type of souvenir items as local Chinese would find them quite ordinary. I’m no local so I have the license to buy these types of souvenirs. I hardly ever buy stuff for myself when I go on trip and I would normally give to other people. My officemates (former) are voracious eaters and always look forward to snack I would buy whenever I go abroad. Having gone to China often enough, they probably already know what to expect whenever I buy something back for them.
