The Yuanmingyuan Park is a massive imperial garden which was reduced to ruins by the invading British forces. Now, it is just a public park with some of the ruins serving as archeological exhibits. However, it is still largely a park and what a park it is. It spans 3.5 square kilometers and is basically a large classical Chinese garden. It was like every place seems to be carefully designed to be beautiful, considering that this place is already considered ruined, that really says a lot.
It is because of these reasons that I consider Yuanmingyuan Park a very relaxing park. The large area of the park ensured there there can never be too many people here. In fact, once you get past the entrance, you don’t need to worry about crowds as they will already be dispersed to the various scenic spots. It was then I smiled to myself just how relaxing the locals think Yuanmingyuan Park was. One particulary open viewing area, were some seats. There were locals sleeping on the seats. And not just like sitting sleeping type of sleep, but lying on the seat type of sleeping. It was outrageous and reminds me of where I was.
