The name Yuanmingyuan Park is actually quite redundant, as the proper English translation would have been Yuanming Park. However, this seems to be a common translation for the name so I will be using it here when I refer to the park. The name also translates to Engish as the Garden of Perfect Brightness, yes, they always tend to use these kinds of colorful names. The Yuanmingyuan Park is actually quite historical as it is also called the Old Summer Palace. There is an old summer palace? Yes, apparently the first one, this one was destroyed before a new one was built, in the next subway stop, now known to the West as the Summer Palacee 颐和园.
Upon looking at the map of the Yuanmingyuan Park, I realized how large this place was and was starting to computed how much time I need to allocate for this place. I figured around three hours should be good enough to see most of the place. I had to pay a small entrance fee to enter the park. The park seems to massive enough that even if there were a lot of visitors you won’t even feel it. Usually, you would run into visitors near the entrance then they would spread out throughout the park over the course of the day. This seems to be a very interesting and relaxing place to visit. Let’s see what it has.
