I left the Beijing Lama Temple because I wanted to visited other places. I didn’t really prepare for visiting Beijing since much of my itinerary was to visit places outside of Beijing. But now that I have almost reached the last stop, I don’t have much planned for this place. So what did I do? I looked at the Beijing Subway map and just picked a destination. I decided on Yuanmingyuan Park 圆明园 which is a historical landmark, Beijing doesn’t seem to run out of these places. Getting there from the Beijing Lama Temple takes a little map reading. I needed to take Line 5 then transfer at Huixinxijie Nankou station to Line 10 then transfer again at Haidian Huangzhuang Station to Line 4 to get to Yuanmingyuan station.
Transferring stations in Beijing’s subway network can be a stressful experience since you will probably get off the station along with hundreds of other passengers, each one trying to get ahead of the other. Sometimes the transfer stations aren’t that near to the station you got off from and that might mean having to walk several hundred meters to get to the next station. One thing you don’t have to worry about is that other people will be going the same way, so you will never get lost here. I got to Yuanmingyuan Park early enough, so it was time for some exploring.
