Inside the Courtyard of an Establishment in Pingyao Ancient Town 平遥古城
This early, I was already getting tired of seeing yet another ancient town. The town is so homogenous that the phrase “you seen one, you seen them all” could never be truer. The “must see” sights in Pingyao were quite easy to spot as they would be the ones with the modern entrance gates. Most of the time, the gates are unmanned, only upon scanning would you realize that there was someone in side the office, chatting with the colleagues, coming out only after you have gone in. I guess that is why they made them scannable so visitors can just scan their tickets and just get in themselves.
Visitors Area for One of the Establishments in Pingyao 平遥
Most of the sights in Pingyao are along the main road which bisects the entire town. This is the one with the City Tower, you can find a whole bunch of “must see” sights along this stretch of road. Be warned though that historical as this place is, they tend to look alike, and for visitors who don’t know much about the history of this place, like me, will not be able to fully appreciate the place other then their aesthetic side. A guide might be helpful here.
