From the looks of it, the coming days here in Pingyao will be more of the same. Rain, rain and more rain. I was under the impression that it doesn’t even rain here at all. I thought it was all desert here. It seems my preconceptions where all off. From what I heard it has been raining since yesterday and the weather forcast calls for more rain. This however won’t stop me from exploring this marvelous ancient city. The good thing about the rain was that less people will be on the streets. The rains was just enough to allow people to walk out but also enough to keep most away.
From the tower overlooking the southern part of the ancient town. There wasn’t much to see in the horizon. The town was practically flat but the viewing conditions weren’t so good because of the rain. I have been getting raindrops on my lens and have to keep wiping it to focus properly. From the top of the tower you get a good view of the rest of the town. It is really nice to see these types of town where they all tend to look alike. This goes for other ancient town in China where the building styles tend to all look alike partly due to competition and maybe envy?
