I only spent a night at Shenyang before heading out again to my next destination. I wasn’t particularly enamored with the city since it seemed to be too busy, and too cold to boot. The previous day, I purchased high-speed train tickets to my destination. There was a shop which happens to have a kiosk selling train tickets very near the hotel where I was staying. I had to pay and extra CNY 5 as commission for their service. A small price to pay for the convenience of not having to go through the trouble of buying one at the station since the queue might be long. Knowing that there are two train stations at Shenyang, I confirmed the correct station so that I don’t have to worry about going to the wrong station.
The next day, I woke up early to try to catch a few shots of the city of Shenyang. There were a few interesting buildings in the city and I was hoping to get a few snaps of them. I took a city bus which brought me near not only to the train station but also to the interesting buildings I saw. There was a lot of time for me to spend here as the Shenyang North railway station was just two blocks away. The city of Shenyang was surprisingly modern for something that old. It is Northeast China’s financial center and there was a lot of construction activity going on in this city. The central business district is under heavy development and I expect this area to look completely different in the coming years.
