Interiors of the Theater at the Imperial Palace in Shenyang 沈阳故宫
The flamboyand Emepror Qianlong is an avid supporter of the arts. He was known to give poetic names to beautiful sights or seemingly ordinary things which he finds fascinating. He was known to write poems and is a lover of Chinese classical theater. It is not surprising that he had a theater build at his palace. This would not be the first time I would encounter a theater that was built by Qianlong. I believe it was at a temple in Chengde city which was built specifically for a visiting religious leader.

The Theater here was the imperial palace in Shenyang, looks just like the other theaters in other palaces. Both have entrances where the actors and actress do their make up and enter the stage. For a theater, not much though was put into making the place acoustically sound. The theater was elevated so the people right in front of the plaform will not be able to see what was going on. So much for front seat tickets.
