Among the tombs that I have visited in this trip, the General’s Tomb was no doubt the most impressive one. However, this is all that this park has to offer. There really isn’t anything else to see here. I guess they really tried to make the visit worthwhile since this is probably the most famous of the tombs here in Ji’an. There were noticeably more visitors here though not as mind numbing as other Chinese tourist destinations. The General’s Tomb is probably one of the symbols of Koguryo culture and I’m glad that the government is taking steps to keep it good condition.
There are of course, some necessary steps which needed to be taken when making a Chinese tourist destination. It needs to be turned into a park. This was already done with a patch of green right in front of the tomb. There was also a restaurant and a small shopping area just off to the side of the entrance gate. I didn’t really care much about it, but I needed to go there since my driver/guide was nowhere to be found. The car was where we left it but no driver. He was just wandering around the shopping area and was glad to see me come back. This was the last stop for us, maybe he would have time to get another customer.
