The exploring the ruins of the Koguryo Kingdom is just as my friend said it would be. The tombs were nothing spectacular really, at least the first one wasn’t. It was about twice as tall as I and the best way I would describe it is it was just a large organized mound of rocks. The rocks at the base were much larger than the ones on top. However, for something which is almost two thousand years old, the pile of rocks seem to be too clean to be that old. Is it possible that this pile or rocks was that old?
There was nothing to prevent visitors from climbing up the ruins in fact, there was a stairlike structure on one side of the tomb obviously for climbing. I naturally didn’t climb it as I would not only be ruining a UNESCO world heritage, not to mention that I would also be desecrating someone else’s grave. There was a viewing platfrom for visitors who want to take a look at the tomb from a higher angle. Actually, there wasn’t much to see from there either, you just get to see more of the rocks on top.
