The Streets of Changchun at Night

Changchun is the provincial capital of Jilin province in northeast China. It was also the capital of the now defunct Manchukuo state during the Japanese occupation. There wasn’t much history about Changchun before the time of the Qing dynasty. It was only when the Russians started building railroads in northeast China that things started to move for Changchun. It is some sort of a railway hub in notheast China since a lot of railway infrastructure was built here. It is not surprising that a lot of railway traffic passed through this city. Currently, Changchun is one of the major heavy industry centers in China, as they specialized in railway and automobile manufacturing.

I Don't Seem to be in a Busy Part of the City

The Home Inn where I was staying in Changchun doesn’t have much in the way of fun at night. Aside from the row of restaurants behind the hotel, there wasn’t much to do here. There was a major shopping district up the road from here but I was too lazy to go there. The darkness comes fast this time of the year so I felt compelled to just go back to the hotel and rest, I have a lot of travelling to do the next day. But before that I took a few snaps of the streets of Changchun as seen from outside the hotel.
