The Puppet Emperor’s Palace is conveniently located in the city of Changchun so I don’t need to travel far to get there. Asked around how to get to the palace and some people pointed me to take a certain bus. When I got on the bus, I asked another person on the bus who told me, I got on the wrong bus. I quickly got off the bus, quite frustrated by not being able to find the place. I knew it was nearby but I just didn’t know how to get there. I bit the bullet and hailed a cab. The cab went the opposite way indicating how far off I was. However, it was a short trip as we only took ten minutes to get there.
The Puppet Emperor’s Palace was at a quiet part of the city. I didn’t have a grand location with a big square and all. This gives you a hint how important this place was to the government. Actually, it didn’t look much like a palace in the tradition of the Forbidden City in Beijing or other “lesser” palaces that I have visited in other cities. The Puppet Emperor’s Palace was in fact, quite modern looking. With turn of the century architecture. One should note that the Puppet Emperor’s Palace is a reconstruction of the original one which I assume was destroyed when the Qing dynasty fell.
