The Siberian Tiger Park in Haerbin city is one of its unique attractions, somewhat analogous to Chengdu’s panda sanctuary, although the panda’s are infinitely cuter than the tigers. The Siberian Tiger Park is touted to be one of the highlights of a visit to Haerbin, and I would agree. After all, the species has already been run to extinction and can only be seen in reserves such as these. Where else can you get to feed a Siberian tiger than doesn’t involve your arm nor the rest of you? If you have the dough, you can throw in a chicken or a live calf for that matter.
If such thrills are exciting you, then you have come to the right place. One of the problems here is that the park is a bit out of the way. Unless you read and speak Chinese and know how to read bus signs, you might have a difficult time getting here. I wish that they have public buses that go directly to the park, I guess tour groups come here more often than individual travellers. Not being content to just being a Siberian Tiger Park, it has mascots outside the reserve area. My guess is it is to keep kids interested in is as well. Oh well, I might as well see what else is here.
