The Siberian Tiger Park in Haerbin does not only house tigers in the reserve, there were also other felines here. However, I don’t think most of the are suited to live in this kind of weather. They have lions and leopards. These animals I would associate more with more temperate regions. Granted that they still have their fur to keep them warm, it still doesn’t make sense to keep a lion in a cold region. The other animals were kept out of main reserve and were staying in separate cages. I just wish that the would be housed in a large space. Perhaps with their own large space, much like how the Singapore Zoo does it.
I couldn’t get to see the lion that much as he kept moving back and forth. It was as if he was eyeing his neighbor perhaps intimidating them or getting ready for a fight. We were all on the bus watching them and it not really very interesting. The free roaming tigers were still far more interesting that this. I have a feeling that we were nearing the end of the safari. We have seen a lot of the Siberian tigers and now we were shown the lions as well.
