The first time I was here at Sophia Square it was already dark. The cathedral was all lit up and it looked very beautiful. I said to myself that I would need to come back here in the day time. So here I am. Unfortunately, for me, the weather wasn’t really cooperating. It wasn’t super cold but it was quite misty and the color of the church isn’t very vibrant. Haerbin isn’t really a traditional tourist city so I was glad that the square didn’t have a lot of people there. Of course there were still photograhers here and there but for the most part they were quite manageable.
I love the weather here as it makes you want to just walk around and you won’t break a sweat. I guess having lived all my life in the tropics, the cold weather is a real novelty for me. I remember my friend in Shanghai said the cold was very troublesome since you have to put on so much clothes when you go out, and take them off then you go indoors. That is probably true, but I don’t get to experience this kind of weather where I come from. At the moment it still isn’t freezing, which makes it just right. If it becomes too cold I would not be able to handle it as my clothes are ill equipped for that kind of weather. I could run out and buy some warmer clothes, I’m sure they will be cheaper here.
