I thought I would spend the better part of the day exploring the churches of Haerbin, but two of them, the Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Church of the Intercession were closed. I didn’t have much choice but to head back to where I came from. I was quite lucky that I didn’t get lost trying to get here but I didn’t want to push my luck. I merely took public transportation to get here as I would try to avoid taking a cab as much as possible. One problem was I didn’t know where the bus stop heading back was. I did mention that the bus stops are quite far in between so you need to know where to get off or it will be a long walk. After half an hour of walking to and fro I managed to find my bus stop which will bring me back to Daoli District.
I managed to take in the way back to Daoli District, as I would be using this route quite often in my stay here in Haerbin. The bus happens to pass by the Saint Sophia Cathedral so I just got of at the nearest bus stop. I knew how to get back from the hostel from here so I wasn’t really worried. The weather wasn’t really very good at that time of the day and I realized that it would be a challenge to get decents shots here at the Saint Sophia Cathedral. The air was quite misty so colors were subdued and contrasts were almost non-existent. What to do? I have a two more days here in Haerbin, I hope I would be lucky to get a decent shot of this magnificent piece of architecture.
