The sun was setting fast on the Songhua River and there wasn’t much to see there at night. I started to head back to Zhongyang Street wondering what to do next. I’m not used to having sunsets at four in the afternoon. For me, when the sun goes down, it means it is time to eat and go home. But it was still too early! It looks like I need to get used to the different timings here in the north. I didn’t have anything planned that night. I didn’t even have anything planned for the next few days. I was just trying to see what this place was to offer.
So far, Zhongyang Street was one of the most pleasant places here in the city. The old buildings were perfectly restored and were well maintained. There were also new structures that look like old structures, if you know what I mean. The exterior of the building looks old but when you step inside it looks totally different. Take for instance a mall I happened to enter. Inside the mall was a splendid glass ceiling which reminds me of Bugis Junction in Singapore. The rest of the interiors of the mall still maintains that classical style consistent with Zhongyang Street and it was quite impressive. Why can’t all malls be like this?
