Elegant European Style Architecture in Zhongyang Street 中央街 in Haerbin 哈尔滨
The city government of Haerbin has made it a point to promote the heritage architecture of Haerbin, Zhongyang Street in particular. Most of the buildings along this beautiful stretch of road have been wonderfully restored. Actually I don’t know much about the history behind these beautiful buildings. Some were actually hotels back then I don’t know which ones though while others were offices. I didn’t really try to find out the history of each of the buildings here.
"Russian" Products Store in Zhongyang Street 中央街 in Haerbin 哈尔滨
Practically all of Zhongyang Street’s heritage buildings have been converted to commercial purposes. Most were turned into souvenir shops specializing in “Russian” products. Most of the products here are Chinese made anyway. Although they did have some nice Matryoshka dolls, you know, the hollow wooden dolls ones which are a doll within a doll within a doll and so on. The more levels it has, the more expensive it is. There were also other “Russian” products but they didn’t really interest me since I only plan to purchase souvenirs when I’m about to go back home.
