Upon your entry into the Suzhou Times Square, the first thing you would notice is a huge walkway looking thing which snakes through the grounds of the shopping center. It actually looks like a flyover commonly seen in cities. This was not a road however, this is actually one of Suzhou Times Square’s most significant attractions. It is the dubbed the world’s largest LED screen. The screen also functions as a shelter for people since there is a lot of open space outside the mall.
At night, it is easier to see the screen since it is so prominent. Naturally, there are ads there but it is still a wonder to be looking at such a huge screen. I thought the way it was designed was very clever. It is installed underneath the “walkway” so that there will be no sunlight, which would make it easier to read during the daytime. At the same time, since it is so huge, people from afar would be able to see the message coming their way from afar. And, since it is and LED screen, it is energy efficient.
