Brilliantly Lit Heritage Building at Nanjing Road East 南京东路
We just came from a very filling dinner courtesy of my very gracious friend. We wanted to walk off the dinner so we decided to walk all the way back to the hostel. My friend wasn’t really dressed for the cold, although I wasn’t really feeling cold that time. It was so bad that she needed to wear gloves and her scarf. Probably because of all my built-in insulation that I wasn’t feeling cold. Or maybe because it was still drizzling that time.

It seems that they haven’t walked to this part of Nanjing Road East at night. It was really a pretty sight since all of the buildings were lit up. While my friend was ogling at the pretty lights, was on the lookout for undesirable characters. Nanjing Road East attracts a lot of people, unfortunately, this also includes people you don’t want to meet. Theft is not uncommon here so it pays to be on the lookout. I didn’t tell this to my friend lest I worry here, but at least I was watching out for her. We got back to the hostel with no untoward incidents, although I did notice some suspicious looking characters along the way.
