One of the more prominent landmarks along the West Lake 西湖 is the Leifeng Pagoda 雷峰塔. As I was walking along the shores of this tranquill lake, one can’t help but notice the presence of this magnificent pagoda. It actually sits on top of a hill which makes the pagoda more visible. This also meant that it isn’t as near as it looks. I continued to walkg along the shore at a leisurely pace since I wasn’t really planning to go anywhere else. Actually, tourists can take the bus which goes around the lake to the Leifeng Pagoda.
That is one of the nice things about the West Lake, since it is a very famous place, their tourism infrastructure it quite well developed, which makes it easy for independent travellers to get around. the Leifeng Pagoda is one of the more significant sights in this area and I decided to have a look at what the fuss is about. I was thankful that the West Lake area is quite large which disperses the tourists here. I can’t recall seeing busloads of tourists being dumped in an single place, probably because there are a lot of other places to see here.
