Sitting right next to the Shanghai World Financial Building is the Jinmao Tower. Ever since the building has been publicized, I have always admired the design of the building. The Jinmao Tower was said to be inspired by a Chinese pagoda, probably one of the world first skyscrapers. Like a pagoda, the Jinmao Tower was several levels which slowly recede as the building goes higher. It is then topped by a spire which shines brightly in Shanghai’s skyline.
The Jinmao Tower is a tad shorter than the Shanghai World Financial Building, at 88 stories, it briefly held the title of tallest building in China until its neighbor was completed. It seemd almost unreal that was I standing right outside the doors of this world famous building. There were a few photographers below trying to find a decent angle for this building. I was lucky since the sky was quite clear that night, I would have been a shame if the top was shrouded in clouds.
