I chose to stay at the Shanghai Captain Youth Hostel because of its unrivaled location at the edge of the famed Shanghai Bund 外滩. Going to the Bund is literally just around the corner from the hostel. i had seen numerous photos of the famed strip and can’t wait to explore this place. I had a glimpse of it but I was busy trying to find where the hostel was. Now, I can take my time to enjoy this place.
The Bund is a patch of riverside lined with numerous colonial era buildings. There is a promenade area right beside the Huangpu River itself and it makes it a very beautiful place to walk in. Gazing across the river, one will see the futuristic developments at the Pudong 浦东 new area. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t exactly great as it was quite misty and the buildings across the river weren’t that clear. I have a few days to spare here in Shanghai, hopefully, the weather will clear up by then.
