I actually liked staying in the Huangshan Old Street International Youth Hostel that I decided to spend an extra day here. There was one more place which I didn’t get to go to and that is the ancient village of Hongcun 宏村. The British guy was still there and we decided to go on the trip arranged by the hostel. The package includes visits to Hongcun and Xidi 西递, entrance fees and lunch. It is much cheaper than going doing it by yourself. Although I have already been to Xidi, I decided to tag along since it has lunch anyway, I got a small discount for not going to Xidi though.
The British guy was relieved to have me aboard as he would have someone to talk to and someone to translate things for him just in case. Come to think of it, I really should have started charging him for my translation services since I was translating any Chinese he needs to hear. Anything he wants to tell the locals he would use my services too. He probably got used to this that he even tried making me translate to Japanese when we were still with the Japanese student, incidentally I happened to know how to say it in Japanese. This is actually a tour group and I didn’t think that I would one day be part of something like this but maybe we could split off from the tour and just meet up with them after.
