Our Progress So Far Going Down Huangshan 黄山

I would pick going down a mountain over climbing up any time of the day, but going down also presents its own set of problems. My legs were starting to ache from having to support my ever growing weight as I lose more and more strength to cushion my steps. My shoes weren’t really very suited to walking in these types of conditions as they were just everyday rubber shoes. There wasn’t much cushion in them so my knees were taking the full brunt of my weight.

As a result, we would find ourselves stopping more and more often. The Asian group, the Japanese, the Chinese and me were not in very good shape. While our British friend would stop to wait for us each time we needed a break. It must have been frustrating for him to keep waiting for us but he didn’t say a word. I guess it is better than having to walk down the mountain alone as it helps keep your mind of the pain. Looking back at Huangshan, we see that we have already made a lot of progress, it was hard to believe just an hour before we were one top of that mountain.
