My Japanese companion and I were having such a grand time walking through the picturesque lanes of Xidi ancient town that were almost forgot that we haven’t had lunch yet. It was quite troublesome to go around the town looking for a place to eat because we didn’t know where we were. We would stumble into a large road and we would take it from there hoping it would lead us somewhere. We chanced upon some random eating place with no one there.
We waited until someone did come, apparently it was already late and they didn’t think there would be someone coming to eat that time of the day. My companion wasn’t the picky kind and I ordered the Shredded Pork with Green Chili 青椒肉丝 and the some kind of preserved tofu dish. The dishes were unremarkable though the tofu was a little unique. It was a particularly hard kind of tofu sliced thinly, still it was just as tough. I wasn’t really satisfied with that meal and I thought it was a little expensive considering we were in the middle of nowhere.
