These seems to be an endless parade of gates I needed to go through in order to enter the Confucius Forest, but after thinking about it, it but natural that they do. This was after all private property. Yes, the Kong family owns this place and it is actually a family cemetery. In fact, it is the largest private family cemetery in the world. There are over three 3000 tombs here and more being added. But most importantly, their famous ancestor is also buried here.
The Confucius Forest is a forest of more than 100,000 trees, and of various types as it is said that the disciples of Confucius each planted a tree from their hometown. The forest, as expected, is vast and it seems like it would take a while to complete explore. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time to do this as I needed to get back to Tai’an City fast.
